Rainy Season

Lots of rain in our area and two species are thriving in the dark dampness of the woods. The mosquito population is thriving and has grown to epic proportions. The abnormally large pest's have taken to the tree's to better ambush any unsuspecting hikers foolish enough to enter their domain.
A country lane looks inviting in the early morning mist.
Fungi is everywhere, the moist humid conditions have produced a bumper crop with many varietys in various stages of development.

This is Indian Pipe I usually them in small bunches, it was a sight to encounter so many in one place!

I won't quote the " Tangled Web" line on this one it was a perfect job very neat and symetrical.

This rain cloud did have a silver lining after all. Thank's for stopping by and sharing the pictures with us.

Suspicious mosquito, but the fungi are very interesting. Great shots!

Indian Pipe is very interesting. Does this mean the mushroom wars are back?

Nice work as usual. It's been so dry here that our state bird (the mosquito) is a candidate for the endangered species list.

We haven't seen a mushroom in so long I'm afraid the Mushroom War wouldn't be much of a battle.

The figs are so dehydrated you have to soak them in water before you eat them and the raspy whispering you hear in the yard is the grass begging for some hose water.

I can tell you I was in Brownsville last week and the mosquitos there were like fighter jets! Looks like we will get some water tommrow so maybe the mushrooms will make an appearance.....
